The demise of Apache control lead to settlement by miners, farmers and cattlemen. By 1886 the town needed a classroom and a post office. The familiar landmark Cave Creek Station was established. In 1928 the land south of black Mountain, the heart of modern Cave Creek, was opened for homesteading. This and the opening of Bartlett dam and Horseshoe Dam lead to a great influx of people. In 1986 Cave Creek was incorporated. Today, residents can enjoy the casual feel of Cave Creek and relish the rough edges too.
