Chicago is one of the country’s great cities, with a wealth of history, a vibrant economy, world-class museums, and what might be the world’s best food. From an Italian beef sandwich at a tailgate to the pinnacle of fine dining, Chicago offers the best of every cuisine. Chicago is also home to some of the best public and private universities, which attract the brightest minds in the world, providing a rich, multicultural backdrop to every aspect of city life.

No discussion of Chicago would be complete without mentioning sports. The Bears, White Sox, Cubs, Blackhawks, and Bulls are cultural treasures, but are only part of the state’s 34 professional sports teams, including Men’s and Women’s soccer, lacrosse, and indoor football.

Outside of Chicago, the rest of the state offers a wealth of cultural and educational opportunities, including historical homes of Lincoln and Reagan, prehistoric artifacts of the Sauk Nation, hundreds of outdoor recreation opportunities, and some of the nation’s finest vineyards and wineries.

Illinois has a temperate climate, with cold, snowy winters and hot, wet summers. Chicago’s average daytime highs are 84 in July, with average nighttime lows of 18 degrees in January.
