Spring River

The history of Kansas is the history of America. Kansas sat at the crossroads of the Oregon Trail, the Santa Fe Trail, the Pony Express, the railroads, and even the Union and the Confederacy. It holds rich histories of Native Americans, African Americans, and Western settlers who built our great state. If you’re more into nature than history, we have hundreds of miles of rivers, and thousands of acres of plains, forests, and lakes. And if you still believe we’re the “flattest state in the nation” (we’re actually the 30th flattest), take a trip to Mount Sunflower!

After a day exploring, you can’t beat our food. Due to its intensive wheat production, Kansas has become known as America’s breadbasket, and is home to some of the country’s best and freshest baked goods and microbrew beers. Our beef is legendary (especially the barbecue), and you can find dozens of local famers markets throughout the state on any given weekend.

Downtown Wichita

Downtown Wichita

If you’re interested in a night on the town, our cities offer museums, restaurants, sports, and other benefits of urban living with a quick escape to rural relief. In 2006, CNN/Money and Money magazine ranked Wichita 9th on its list of the 10 best U.S. big cities in which to live. In 2008, MSN Real Estate ranked Wichita 1st on its list of most affordable cities. Wichita was also named most “Uniquely American” city by Newsmax Magazine.

Weather

Local Weather

Our climate varies greatly depending on elevation, but most of Kansas has a temperate climate. In Wichita, summer highs reach the low 90s, and nighttime January lows drop to just below 30. Snowfall, and precipitation in general, is moderate.

Real Estate

Kansas’ real estate industry is as varied as its activities and geography. From a rustic farmhouse to a downtown condo, a lakeside retreat to a suburban family home, there’s a property for everyone.
