She has served on the Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission & as Board Chairman of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as President of the Manhattan Association of REALTORS* & State President of CRB, CRS, and WCR. A trustee of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation & active supporter of the arts, Linda served the State of Kansas in official capacity as Chairman of the Kansas Arts Agency, Founding President of the Kansas Arts Foundation,  Kansas State University’s Beach Museum of Art & currently serves on K-State’s Advisory Board for Music, Theatre, &  Dance. 

A strong proponent of the military, Linda served for several years on the Governor’s Military Council, to which she was appointed & reappointed by three different Kansas governors.  She has traveled often to Washington, DC to meet with Pentagon officials & the Kansas Congressional Delegation to advocate for the needs of Kansas military families, most especially those of Fort Riley.   She continues to serve as an executive member of the Little Apple Military Brigade & on the Manhattan Area Chamber’s Military Relations Steering Committee.

During her tenure as Incoming Board Chairman on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Weis was the lead community liaison in the successful recruitment of the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility to Manhattan/Kansas State University. Scheduled to open in 2022/2023, NBAF is a federal laboratory that will pave the way for One Health in preventing deadly animal diseases. 

Devoted wife and the mother of three grown children & six grandchildren, Linda’s family are her pride and joy. A lifelong supporter of faith-based needs, she is the Founder of  “ASPIRE” an educational mentoring program for young women with a vision for betterment.  A charter member of Konza Rotary, Linda is a Paul Harris Fellow and member of Chapter BD, PEO.  She holds membership in the Daughters of the American Colonists & Daughters of the American Revolution, where she is an Honor Regent.  An Eagle Scout Mother, she serves on the Board of the Coronado Council of Boy Scouts of America & has served on the First Lutheran Church Council, where she has been a longtime member.

A highly-trained musician, Linda taught public school music in Shawnee Mission, Kansas; Suburban Champaign-Urbana, Illinois; New Haven and Woodbridge, Connecticut; & Manhattan, Kansas.  She was Founding Director of the private Manhattan Music Enrichment School and, while directing choral music at Manhattan High School, she founded the school’s popular show choir, Sugar and Spice Singers.  While studying choral conducting with Donald Neuen at the Eastman School of Music,  she served as choral and elementary music clinician in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.  She also taught Orff-Schulwerk summer courses at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, prior to becoming Associate Professor of Choral Music at Manhattan Christian College, where she was in charge of coast-to-coast touring choral groups.  Linda has lived in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, Minnesota, New York, and Connecticut, moving with her husband to Manhattan, Kansas, from Yale University with the expectation of staying for “two years, three at the most”…the rest is history!
