One of Mississippi's most popular canoeing/kayaking waterways, the Okatoma Creek, is 13 miles to the east in Seminary, MS. The Okatoma has Class I rapids and beautiful scenery. Day trips can last anywhere from 1.5-6 hours. There is a 16-mile overnight option, as well. Canoe/kayak rentals are available or use your own. LOCATION. In addition to Bassfield and Seminary, nearby larger cities and their distances from JD30 are Hattiesburg, MS - 38 miles, Gulfport, MS - 108 miles, New Orleans, LA - 150 miles, Jackson, MS - 83 miles, and Mobile, AL - 135 miles.
