Denville ranks in the top 100 safest cities in New Jersey, according to a new report published by the National Council for Home Safety and Security, a trade association of security professionals that advocates for safe communities and home safety.
New Jersey State Statistics:
New Jersey is the 3rd safest state for property crime (where 1st = lowest crime).
The state has a violent crime rate that is less than half the national average (0.45 ratio) with 1.56 crimes per 1,000 against the national average of 3.47
Compared to national averages, New Jersey's property crime levels are also very low at a ratio of 0.34 based upon 13.79 crimes per 1,000 which compares to the national average of 40.43.?
Denville is ranked at 15 on the list.
For reference, the rankings for nearby towns are Parsippany (71), Rockaway Towship (126), Morristown (129), Roxbury (120), Hanover Township (121), Jefferson Township (19).
To identify the safest cities in New Jersey, the National Council for Home Safety and Security reviewed the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics. The Council rated New Jersey cities with populations greater than 10,000. Fanwood (pop 7,808) was ineligible for inclusion on the list.
