YORKVILLE

YORKVILLE

With an estimated population of just over 20,000, the United City of Yorkville lies 47 miles southwest from downtown Chicago, making it a far west suburban bedroom community. Yorkville is home to Raging Waves Waterpark, Silver Springs State Park, the Marge Cline Whitewater Course, as well as being the seat of government for Kendall County. According to the city’s 2017 citizen survey, 83% of residents believe Yorkville to be a good place to raise kids with 71% believing that Yorkville is safer than their surrounding communities.

Earl Adams was the first pioneer to call this area home in 1833, building a cabin on what is now known as Courthouse Hill on the south side of town. Only three years later, Yorkville was established a settled community. Divided by the Fox River, the present city of Yorkville was originally two towns - Bristol to the north and Yorkville to the south of the river, with separate governments for more than 100 years. In 1957, Bristol and Yorkville merged, becoming the United City of Yorkville.
