Kansas City is a lively city that straddles the Kansas/Missouri border. The city is rich with history and is home to the world's most comprehensive World War I collections at the National WWI Museum and Memorial. Kansas City is also known for its style of barbecue which is rubbed with spices and slow-smoked over a variety of woods and served with signature barbecue sauce. The art scene is Downtown Kansas City is booming with over 30 art galleries and arts events such as First Fridays. Green space is abundant in the city with over 220 parks scattered throughout and fans of varying sports can catch a game from the many professional sports teams located in the city. Located fully within Kansas City, Downtown Kansas City is the home of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. As the performance house to the Kansas City Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and the Kansas City Ballet, the Kauffman Center covers 13 acres and includes two halls (Muriel Kauffman Theatre – 1,800 seats and Helzberg Hall – 1,600 seats). Additional notable attractions in the downtown area include the Kansas City Convention Center, the National World War I Museum, and College Basketball Experience.
Located just south of Downtown, Midtown Kansas City is considered the core of the metropolitan area and houses the Historic Hyde Park. A few of the many attractions include the Kansas City Zoo, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and Swope Park which is the home to soccer teams FC Kansas City and the Swope Park Rangers.
Also called South KC, South Kansas City is considered one of the fastest growing areas in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Attractions include the Harry S. Truman Farm Home, Blue River Parkway Trails and the Old Red Bridge Love Locks.
The Northland is bordered by the Kansas state line. The Kansas City International Airport as well as the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant are located in this part of Kansas City. Main attractions include the Zona Rosa Shopping Center and the area’s largest amusement park, Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun.
Primarily eastern Jackson County, is home to the Arrowhead Stadium which host the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs and The Kauffman Stadium, home of the Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals.
Kansas City, Kansas is home to the General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant as well as the Village West entertainment district. At Village West, you will find Children’s Mercy Park which is the host field for Major League soccer’s Sporting Kansas City and the Kansas Speedway. Plenty of shopping is available at the Legends shopping district.
