Mahwah is a great town for New York City Commuters

Mahwah Township has developed in five distinctive sections and covers 26 square miles, characterized as a suburban community that is well situated to take advantage of picturesque views of the Ramapo Mountains and the Ramapo River on its northwestern border.  The township provides tranquil, tree-shaded neighborhoods as well as a swimming lake and a golf course.  Mahwah is better known as “Bergen County’s Parkland” and encompasses several state and county parks and reservations that cover nearby 5,000 acres.  Major thoroughfares that serve this area include Interstate 287, Route 17, and the Garden State Parkway.  Commuter bus and train service are available to New York City.

The Township of Mahwah is a 26.7 square mile ideal suburban community situated to take advantage of the natural beauty of the picturesque Ramapo Mountains and the crystal clear Ramapo River on its northwestern border. The historic Ramapo Valley Road (Route 202) as well as State Highway Route 17 and Interstate Highway 287 cross through its boundaries. Mahwah is a natural route northward from New York City, a mere 30 miles away, has easy access to air and rail transportation, and is bordered by the towns of Upper Saddle River, Ramsey, Allendale, Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Ringwood, New Jersey, and Suffern in New York.

Mahwah better known as "Bergen County's Parkland" hosts several State and County Parks and Reservations, on almost 5,000 acres of county and state parkland, offering hiking, skiing, snowboarding, biking, archery, swimming and fishing, along with many municipal recreational facilities utilized by our residents for football, soccer, softball, baseball, lacrosse, bocce, skating, tennis, basketball, swimming, nature walks and bike paths.

As the largest municipality in Bergen County, Mahwah has more open space than any other town in Bergen County. It has a wide range of housing including charming Cape Cods, stately historic homes, townhouse and condominium communities and million-dollar mansions. Mahwah has been able to keep its small town character while attracting commercial enterprises. Many large corporations such as Datascope, Jaguar, Stryker, Seiko, and UPS have chosen Mahwah as their corporate home. The bucolic campus of Ramapo College is also located in the Township.

Mahwah provides its residential and commercial residents with an excellent police force, dedicated emergency service volunteers, professional municipal government staff, a progressive and diversified recreational program, and high quality educational system, all creating a safe, secure, and comfortable environment in which to live and work.
