Keep it #local ~ Hurricane Irma Edition
(Published on - 9/7/2017 5:49:42 PM)
This week our Exectutives are preparing for Hurricane Irma, so we thought we would put together some useful, local information for you!
Know your evacuation zones! The letters represented above do not refer to "letter sections" as we commonly use in Palm Coast - they are evacuation zones. As of the time of this blog post, evacuations are voluntary for zones A, B, C & F.
Know your evacuation routes. The above image is from WFTV 9 - it shows major highways and the direction in which you should travel to leave - you can click on it for LIVE traffic updates. Please be aware of others on the road, as people south of us are experiencing mandatory evacuations and are trying to get out. Have a full tank of gas before you hit the road, as gas is in high demand.
Flagler Schools announced late Wednesday that classes and activities are cancelled Friday in advance of the storm.
Shelters will be prepared at Rymfire Elementary – for special needs – and at Bunnell Elementary for residents with crated, domesticated pets and the general population.
Bunnell Elementary – General Population and Pets
305 N. Palmetto Street, Bunnell
Rymfire Elementary – Special Needs
1425 Rymfire Drive, Palm Coast
If necessary, the special needs shelter will open first to allow extra time to transport and situate residents at that shelter. Those who have registered on the special needs evacuation registry will be individually called in advance of the shelter opening.
Notification will be posted on Flagler County’s website, www.flaglercounty.org, to notify the community when the shelters are to open, as well as through the local media.
As a reminder, price gouging is illegal when we are under a State of Emergency. Please click here for more information and report price gouging to 866-966-7226.
