Keep it #local ~ Solar Eclipse & Trivia!
(Published on - 8/21/2017 6:05:19 PM)
This week, you'll find our Executives shielding their eyes from the Total Solar Eclipse and participating in Trivia at Break-Awayz in Flagler Beach!
Monday, August 21st
A solar eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon that occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. While Palm Coast is outside of the path of totality, we will be able to see a partial solar eclipse. The moon will cover a large portion of the sun, during typical daylight hours - it is sure to be a sight!
A Total Solar Eclipse is not a rare phenomenon - in fact, they occur every 18 months. What makes this one special is that we will be able to see it, and the path of totality crosses the contigous United States. This is the first total eclipse of the Sun visible from the contiguous United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) since February 26, 1979.
NASA representatives expect Monday the 21st to be one of the worst travel days in the nation's history - they expect the population to DOUBLE on Monday throughout the path of totality!
Remember, if you want to watch the eclipse, invest in a pair of approved viewing glasses, or follow NASA's instructions Here to Make Your Own!
